![]() ![]() In short, if you're on a tight budget and aren't fussed by those enthusiast-orientated extras, this probably isn't the board for you. Unlike some other £200 LGA1151 motherboards though, the Sabertooth Z170 Mark 1 does include noteworthy perks and packs in a number of useful features that tinkerers will love. That said, the price of around £200 is steep - we usually expect the Sabertooth to land somewhere between £160 and £180, but with LGA1151 still taking off as a CPU socket, not least of all due to short supply of motherboards and CPUs in recent weeks, it's not too surprising. Never got it working and then the support could get it to work and even update the BIOS (confirmed it).Įdit: I tried what you mentioned again (tested module A and B seperate in slot 1-4) and it is the same result, cpu led is on and won't turn off.Click to enlargeThe venerable Sabertooth has been a popular choice for ATX motherboard owners for a number of generations now and it's good to see its return with the Z170 chipset. I tried the above before ( + various tries to reset the CMOS and clear the Bios with different timings) before I did send it to the support. It just confuses the hell out of me that the MSI support could update the BIOS and I could use the hardware for like 30mins before the issue happened again. It does not matter which configuration I try, the LED will be on CPU. If the ram would be checked and its missing or defective the LED should stop at DRAM. ![]() If CPU + ram (slot 2 first as mentioned in the manuel, whatever ram iam using) CPU led is static on, it does not even check the ram. If only the CPU is on the board (+cooler and fan) the CPU led is static on. I appreciate the tips but I should have mentioned what I tried till now. Ram: G.Skill 2x8192MB F4-3000C (did run with 2133Mhz, never changed it) Īnd here I'am, don't know what to do anymore. Windows was installing drives again (did reset Win10 after I used my old Hardware), restarted the PC and there was the screen again "updating system driver software". (had to send CPU+board+ram)Īfter I got it back (bios update was successfull), I tried to get the thing to work. There I was again at the beginning and the exact same issue happened again.Īt this point I did not want to send it in again, so I contacted the MSI support again, they wanted to update the BIOS. I did send CPU+board into repair, both were replaced. I tried various things afterwards, nothing worked and I don't know a person with a 6th gen Intel CPU to change/try another CPU or board. Īfter this was done the pc was rebooting again and the CPU led did not stop to glow. I did this and then I saw something new before windows was loading "updating system driver software". Windows installed some new drives and wanted a reboot. Then I added my harddrives, everything was working on this point. Okay so I thought lets insert the RAM, I had a feeling of success for the first time I saw the bios. I contacted the MSI support and they told me to test some things (clear CMOS, reset BIOS nothing new), while I followed the instructions I came to a point where the LED was showing the DRAM. So I tested the new board + CPU + RAM and it did not start only the CPU LED was on and all fans were spinning. I learned that it is better to not build up the whole PC when receiving new hardware. Since the beginning the system never run more then 30 minutes stable. I bought an i5 6600k a Z170A Kraint Gaming board and 16GB G.Skill DDR 4 ram. ![]()
